MUTCD Information: The general concept for Weigh Station signing is similar to Rest Area signing (see Section 2D.42) because in both cases traffic using either area remains within the right-of-way. The Exit Direction sign (D8-2) or the Advance sign (D8-1) should display, either within the sign border or on a supplemental panel, the changeable message OPEN or CLOSED.
